Marinas to Visit After the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show

October 10, 2024 | Hurricane Hole | Hurricane Hole News

The 65th annual Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show is almost here, and the Hurricane Hole Superyacht Marina team is excited to once again be at the world’s largest in-water boat show! Scheduled for October 30 through November 3, thousands of boaters and industry professionals will gather at several venues across the city. In addition to all of the great things attendees have come to expect over the years, the 2024 Fort Lauderdale boat show will have several new features, like an expanded Designers Pavilion at Superyacht Village, increased numbers of water taxis and transportation options to get around, and a new location for the Windward VIP Club, which will now be at the Hall of Fame Marina.

The Hurricane Hole team will be at the Association of Bahamas Marinas booth (Booth 855-856) to share more information about our facility’s amenities and prime location on Paradise Island that make it a top choice among Bahamas marinas for Florida visitors. We look forward to seeing you there!

Can You Take a Yacht Day Trip from Fort Lauderdale to The Bahamas?

Because The Bahamas is so close to southeastern Florida, it’s absolutely possible to take a yacht day trip from Fort Lauderdale. The island of Bimini is only about 50 nautical miles away, so it’s possible to get there in just a few hours on a yacht or ferry. However, The Bahamas has about 700 islands and cays, and with so much to explore, why would you want to try to experience the culture, history, food, and beauty of the country in just one day? That’s why it’s better to find a conveniently located home port in The Bahamas, like Hurricane Hole Superyacht Marina on Paradise Island. We’re just across the water from Nassau, the capital city and most populous city in the country, and we have the infrastructure and amenities needed to accommodate even the largest yachts and superyachts.

Once you’re here, you can plan several day trips to the best places in The Bahamas, like The Exumas, a chain of islands with clear blue waters, beautiful beaches, and flourishing marine life. Eleuthera and Harbour Island are also easily accessible by yacht from Hurricane Hole Superyacht Marina, as are the Abaco Islands.

How Far Is The Bahamas from Fort Lauderdale by Yacht?

The nautical distance from Fort Lauderdale to The Bahamas will vary greatly depending on which of the country’s nearly 700 islands and cays you’re going to visit. For example, Bimini is only 50 nautical miles from Fort Lauderdale. About 75 nautical miles separates Fort Lauderdale and Freeport. It’s closer to 200 miles from Fort Lauderdale to Paradise Island, which is where Hurricane Hole Superyacht Marina is located. Once here, the best of The Bahamas is within easy reach by yacht or superyacht from our marina, so it’s worth making the trip to have access to all of the stores, restaurants, medical services, and entertainment options on Paradise Island and nearby Nassau, New Providence. We’re excited to see attendees at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show and share more about all of the perks of renting or buying a slip at our world-class marina for yachts and superyachts of all sizes!
